Katoen Natie, majority shareholder and operator of the Terminal Cuenca del Plata (TCP), reported that activities at the port facility, particularly truck service, will remain suspended due to a new assembly of the TCP-Nelsury union.

“The general public and, especially, the transport community are informed that on Wednesday, June 24, starting at 09:00 hours, no truck service will be provided due to a new Serious and Urgent Assembly with a binding resolution called by the TCP Workers’ Union (TCP-Nelsury)”, communicated the entity that is part of the multinational business group of Belgian origin.

The above would occur “despite the union having announced that they would return from the previous Assembly this Wednesday the 24th at 7:00 a.m. after 48 hours of strike. The interruption of activities will remain in effect until the union formally communicates the lifting of the measures adopted”, according to the company.

The TCP-Nelsury union groups the workers of Nelsury S.A., a third-party logistics and operational services company that performs key tasks within TCP, at the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay.

The union’s ranks include mooring workers, stevedores, machinery operators and maintenance personnel; it is also affiliated with the Single Port Union and Related Branches (Supra).

Given the foreseeable impact on the logistical flow and the surroundings of the port terminal, Katoen Natie reminded transporters that they can check the status and queues at Access A in real time via the webcam available on its official website.

TCP management assured that it will keep the port community informed of any last-minute changes in the development of the union day.
