A few days after the Antitrust authority’s approval of the agreement proposed by Sas (Msc group), Moby and Gnv to avoid sanctions related to a potential market cartel, the Onorato family’s ferry company has immediately put five of its ferries up for sale.

Through a specialized portal, the ‘blue whale’ has launched the tender to sell the ro-pax vessels Moby Aki, Moby Wonder, Athara, Janas and Moby Ale 2 as a single lot with a base price of 229.9 million euros. The sale begins at 11:00 on November 12 and ends at 15:00 on the same day.

In fact, it is a sort of sale&lease back because the procedure specifies the following: “The sale of the ships Moby Aki and Moby Wonder takes place in the state of fact and law in which they are at the date of sale and delivery and with the obligation for the Winning Bidder to simultaneously stipulate, with Moby S.p.A., which will become the lessee, a bareboat charter contract for each ship for a duration of (15) fifteen years at a daily rate of € (15,000.00) fifteen thousand based on the terms and conditions of the Bimco Barecon2017 form logically amended. The Winning Bidder undertakes not to change the names of the Ships. The sale and subsequent bareboat charter take place in the state of fact and law in which the Ships are at the time of sale and bareboat charter, with the express obligation for the Winning Bidder to maintain the Italian flag for the entire duration of the bareboat charter”.
