Ærøfærgerne announces that the replacement of the battery pack on Ellen is taking longer than initially anticipated.
The battery pack on the seven-year-old electric ferry is being replaced from the current 4.3MWh NMC battery pack to a 3.2 MWh LTO-based solution from Echandia.
The replacement of the battery pack also entails a new cooling system, as well as changes to the fire suppression system.
The ferry went into dry dock on April 13 and was originally scheduled to be ready on May 17. However, the expectation now is that the ferry will be ready for service again on May 26, Ærøfærgerne reports.
