The productivity of the Ports of Paraná from January to October reached 61,213,363 tons. The main export products were soybeans (13,015,446 tons), soybean meal (5,517,043 tons), and bulk sugar (4,660,606 tons).
“Everything indicates that we will surpass the 2024 record of 66.7 million tons mobilized, as we have already reached 91.75% of last year’s total. Our goal is to close 2025 with more than 70 million tons,” emphasized the General Director of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia.
Corn prices rise and drive October results
The cargo that showed the largest increase in exports in October was corn, which totaled 3,547,433 tons, an increase of 275% compared to the same month in 2024 (945,174 tons).
“The production in our state was very positive, favoring the export of the product, combined with the capacity of our export corridors, which operate all year without queues to dock,” stated the Director of Port Operations, Gabriel Vieira.
In total, 5,867,284 tons were mobilized in October, representing an FOB value (value of the cargo at the time of shipment) of USD 4.2 billion, a result that exceeds the historical average for the month. Exports accounted for the majority of the cargo, with a total of 3,552,621 tons.
In container operations, shipments grew 24%, with over 890 tons leaving Paranaguá. In the ten months, the total exceeded 7.9 million tons, representing a positive variation of 4%. Frozen poultry meat accounted for 25.8% of exports in containers, totaling 2,270,587 tons in the year, maintaining the Port of Paranaguá as the largest chicken meat export corridor in the world.
Regarding soybean oil exports, Paranaguá remains the national leader. By the end of October, the port shipped 63% of the national production, destined for countries totaling over 860,000 tons. In the total movement of bulk liquid cargo, 8,025,092 tons were mobilized this year, representing growth of over 3% compared to last year (7,799,610 tons).
Regarding unloading, fertilizers accounted for the largest volume, with 916,109 tons. However, the monthly result was 18% lower than that recorded in October 2024.
Paraná remains the main gateway for fertilizers into the country, accounting for just over 25% of all Brazilian imports.
The number of ship dockings has already surpassed the total movement of 2024, with 2,341 dockings to date, compared to the 2,298 recorded last year.
The flow of trucks in the sorting yard of the Port of Paranaguá has also increased, as the volume is 22% higher than the total recorded in 2024. There were 444,177 trucks loaded with solid bulks, such as soybeans and bran, compared to the 392,214 vehicles from the previous year.
Railcar traffic also showed growth, with 17% more trains received in the last 30 days analyzed. The amount of cargo transported by rail increased by 33% compared to October 2024. For the year as a whole, there is a slight reduction of 1% in the number of railcars and a 0.4% decrease in cargo received by rail.
