TCP, the company that administers the Paranaguá Container Terminal, surpassed its own operational performance for the third time this year, by recording the highest monthly volume handled in 2025. In total, it was 145,513 TEU, an increase of 3% compared to the previous maximum.
The previous records were reached in the months of March and May, when the facility recorded operations of 138,485 TEU and 141,788 TEU, respectively. From January to September, the complete transfer reached 1,227,810 TEU, a figure 5% higher than that achieved in the same period of 2024.
One of the most notable segments at TCP was that of refrigerated containers (reefer) which, between January and September, had a performance 7% higher than that recorded in 2024, reaching 106,275 units. A large part of this volume increase was related to the maintained performance of chicken meat exports and the conversion of new clients, primarily in the beef export segment, who use the storage infrastructure of the terminal’s reefer yard, the largest in South America, with 5,268 plugs.
According to Felipe de França, TCP’s operations manager, “the movement records are in line with the company’s growth projections and present a promising panorama for the fourth quarter. Combining cutting-edge technology and a highly qualified team of collaborators, the Terminal has advanced on all fronts, in land, rail, and maritime transport.”
On the terminal’s road access lanes (Gate), two records were reached in September. The number of container transfers reached 56,820 units, 876 more than the volume recorded in July, which had been 55,944 units. The daily record was also surpassed on September 25, when 2,867 transactions were carried out, 112 more than the 2,755 carried out on July 24.
On the railway that connects the terminal with the northern and western regions of Paraná, TCP also reached new highs. Between January and September 2025, 155,722 TEU were moved, a volume 2% higher than that operated in the same period of 2024. The service level has been constantly improved and, in April 2025, the terminal reached two records in the segment, recording the arrival of 121 trains and the movement of 9,627 units.
In maritime transport, TCP received the docking of 759 vessels in the first nine months of the year, 3% more than in the same period of 2024. Currently, TCP operates 21 regular maritime services with a total of 25 weekly calls, making it the terminal with the highest concentration of maritime services along the Brazilian coast.
In addition to the operational records, TCP has advanced in technology and infrastructure. Among the improvements, the implementation of the new CTOS operational system (Container Terminal Operational System) stands out; the expansion of the flow capacity in the truck sorting yard, which doubled in 2025; and the increase of the operational draft from 12.10 meters to 12.80 meters, which allows vessels docking at TCP to transport up to 560 additional TEU per trip.
