According to a recent announcement from Cafe William, the local community is invited to witness the arrival of the world’s largest commercial cargo sailboat. This impressive vessel is set to dock at the Port of Matane on October 4, 2025, delivering its second shipment of coffee for Cafe William.
The coffee beans being transported come from Colombia’s ANEI cooperative, renowned for its organic cultivation at elevations between 1200 and 1500 meters. This Fairtrade-certified product not only boasts exceptional flavor but also contributes positively to environmental sustainability.
During this event at Costco Rimouski, attendees can enjoy complimentary samples of this exquisite coffee along with hot chocolate and snacks. Additionally, one of Cafe William’s owners will discuss their commitment to creating a sustainable supply chain that connects farmers directly with consumers.
This ambitious journey is made possible by TOWT (TransOceanic Wind Transport), a French company established in 2011 that specializes in sail-powered cargo transport. With over two million products shipped so far, TOWT aims to expand its fleet by developing advanced sailing vessels designed for modern logistics.
Founded in 1988, Cafe William stands as one of Canada’s leading importers of Fairtrade-certified coffee. The cafe prioritizes sustainability throughout its operations—utilizing wind-powered transportation methods, eco-friendly packaging solutions, ethical sourcing practices, and electric roasting techniques for their beans.
