The Canadian-capital miner Capstone Copper carried out its first pilot shipment of copper concentrate from Puerto Barquito, a port facility in the commune of Chañaral, Atacama Region, which belongs to the Chilean National Copper Corporation (Codelco).
This was a load of 11,300 wet metric tons of copper concentrate from Minera Manto Verde, located in the commune of Chañaral, which was received and stored during the months of October and November in the port facility owned by Codelco Salvador.
Miguel Díaz, superintendent of Production Services for Codelco Salvador, stated that this “first pilot shipment for Capstone Copper is part of a strategy of opening up and diversifying our port services, which we are working on together with the Commercial Vice Presidency, with the goal of positioning it as a viable and competitive alternative for companies in Atacama, expanding its operational offering and strengthening its role as a logistics platform for different players in the mining and industrial sector.”
This first pilot shipment was carried out by the motor vessel Buna Arrow and concluded without setbacks, fulfilling a secure, efficient logistical process in accordance with the standards required by the industry, remarked the Chilean state-owned copper company.
