Recently, the inaugural voyage ceremony of the “Yuanyang 9801,” the first methanol-diesel dual-fuel-powered hazardous chemical transport vessel of China Aviation Oil Group Chongqing Changyun Logistics Co., Ltd., was held at Chongqing Zesheng Kaiji Ship Technology Co., Ltd.
The “Yuanyang 9801” was constructed by Chongqing Zesheng Kaiji Ship Technology Co., Ltd. and supervised throughout by the Fuling Office of the China Classification Society. It has earned the additional notations of “Methanol Fuel Use” and “Green Ship 2” from the China Classification Society. Its methanol-diesel dual-fuel system design ensures power redundancy for navigating the complex sections of the Yangtze River while enabling flexible fuel switching through intelligent control, providing a replicable and referenceable technical solution for achieving the “dual carbon” goals of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
The vessel measures 110 meters in length, 16.2 meters in width, with a designed draft of 4.25 meters and a gross tonnage of 3,750 tons. It is equipped with a diesel-methanol dual-fuel power system and two main engines, each with 882 kW of power, achieving a designed speed of 18 km/h. Compared to traditional diesel-powered vessels, it reduces sulfur oxide emissions by 50% and carbon emissions by 35%, delivering significant environmental benefits. Its hull design meets the Three Gorges lock transit standards, and the use of high-strength steel welding enhances operational efficiency while ensuring safety.
Changyun Logistics is the largest and most competitive hazardous chemical transport enterprise along the Yangtze River trunk line. Since the implementation of the national “Two New” policies, the company has proactively aligned with national strategies, embraced the “dual carbon” mission, and actively explored innovations to promote high-quality green shipping development on the Yangtze River.
As Changyun Logistics’ first methanol-diesel dual-fuel-powered hazardous chemical transport vessel, the successful maiden voyage of the “Yuanyang 9801” marks the beginning of the company’s large-scale renewal and iteration of new energy vessels. Over the next three years, Changyun Logistics will continue to build and commission 17 new energy vessels powered solely by methanol, creating the largest green hazardous chemical transport fleet on the Yangtze River trunk line.
Attendees at the inaugural ceremony included Wang Qiangyu, Party Committee Secretary and Director of the Fuling District Transportation Committee; Chen Zhiyi, Deputy Director of the Fuling District Port and Maritime Affairs Center; Li Xudong, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of Chongqing Changyun Logistics Co., Ltd.; and Ling Zhixiang, Director of the Fuling Office of the China Classification Society Chongqing Branch.
