On November 21, the 2025 annual meeting of the China Classification Society (CCS) Zhejiang Regional Committee was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang. The theme of this meeting was “Seizing the Trend of Green, Digital, and Intelligent Development to Promote High-Quality Development in the Shipping Industry.” Members and guests from industry regulatory authorities, shipping, ship repair and building, marine equipment manufacturing enterprises, and financial institutions in the Zhejiang region attended the meeting. CCS Vice President Jiang Yafeng attended the meeting.
The meeting confirmed the new Chairman, Vice Chairmen, and members of the Zhejiang Regional Committee. Wang Hui, Chairman of Zhejiang Shipping Group Co., Ltd., serves as the Chairman; Li Mingxin, Party Committee Secretary of Zhoushan COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., and Wu Jie, General Manager of Ningbo C.C. POWER & MACHINERY GROUP Co., Ltd., serve as Vice Chairmen. Vice President Jiang Yafeng presented the appointment letters for the Zhejiang Regional Committee.
In his speech, Chairman Wang Hui fully affirmed the platform role of the Zhejiang Regional Committee in promoting regional resource integration and deepening collaborative cooperation. He emphasized that digital and intelligent technologies are reshaping the development landscape of the shipping industry. He urged all member units to work together, keep pace with the trend of green, low-carbon, and digital intelligent technologies, and jointly create a new phase of high-quality development for the ship and shipping industry in the Zhejiang region.
Vice President Jiang Yafeng delivered a speech on behalf of CCS. He expressed gratitude to the maritime authorities in Zhejiang and all member units for their trust and support of CCS. He introduced a series of achievements made by CCS over the past year in serving national strategies and empowering industry development, particularly the substantial progress in promoting the “green” and “digital” transformation and upgrading. He pointed out that Zhejiang Province holds an important strategic position in China’s shipping landscape and has made significant progress in the past year in areas such as container ships, car carriers, and chemical tankers. The integration of digital intelligent technology and the concept of green, low-carbon development into the entire lifecycle of ship design, manufacturing, and operation is inseparable from the hard work of the Zhejiang Regional Committee and industry colleagues. He stated that CCS is willing to continue deepening cooperation with all parties to build a community for safe and innovative development and make greater contributions to the shipping industry.
In his speech, Wang Huayuan, Deputy Director of Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration, reviewed the good cooperation over the past year with the CCS Zhejiang Branch in key areas such as preventing and resolving major water traffic safety risks, serving industrial development and logistics efficiency, and promoting the green and intelligent transformation of the industry. He stated that Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration is willing to deepen all-round cooperation with CCS and industry colleagues to jointly address industry risks and challenges and continuously promote the high-quality development of Zhejiang’s shipbuilding industry.
At the meeting, Li Ye, Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Regional Committee and General Manager of CCS Zhejiang Branch, presented the “Zhejiang Regional Committee Annual Work Report.” Ruan Haoyu, Director of the CCS Business Management Department, Yue Mengqiang, Director of the CCS Digital Transformation Implementation and Promotion Office, and Cai Yuliang, Dean of the Waterborne Transport Equipment Safety Research Institute, shared special topics including the “China Classification Society Development Report,” “The Impact of Low-Carbon Transformation and /Intelligentization on Shipping,” and “Application and Exploration of Artificial Intelligence in the Ship Field.” These presentations fully demonstrated CCS’s outstanding work performance and key technical achievements over the past year, as well as its continuous dedication to cutting-edge industry development, receiving full affirmation from the attending representatives.
During the exchange session, Zhoushan COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Second Light Industry Group Co., Ltd. gave special presentations titled “Introduction to the LNG Dual-Fuel Conversion of 180K DWT Bulk Carriers” and “Practical Case Study on the Application of Intelligent Ship Technology,” respectively.
The attending members and guests conducted in-depth discussions on hot topics such as the opportunities, challenges, and responses facing the green and digital-intelligent development of the shipping industry. They provided valuable opinions and suggestions for promoting the construction of CCS as a world-class classification society. They also expressed hope that the Zhejiang Regional Committee would better leverage its platform role, consolidate regional development synergy, and contribute wisdom and strength to accelerating the building of China into a country with strong transportation network and Zhejiang Province’s development as a strong maritime province.
