China’s Ministry of Transport has set July 1, 2026 as the effective date for JTS 182-1—2026, a mandatory new General Design Code for Shipping Hubs that will replace JTS 182-1—2009, according to the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China.

The standard was published on May 7, 2026 and will scrap the 2009 version on the same day the new code comes into force. The ministry said several clauses in the new document are mandatory and must be strictly implemented.

Under the notice, the ministry’s Water Transport Bureau will manage and interpret the code, while CCCC Water Transportation Consultants Co Ltd will handle technical questions arising during implementation.

The full text has been released through the ministry’s government information disclosure system.

The move updates the technical rulebook for waterway engineering construction as China continues to revise standards governing shipping hubs and related transport infrastructure.

The Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China is the central government authority responsible for transport policy, rulemaking and standard-setting across sectors including waterways and transport hub planning.

CCCC Water Transportation Consultants Co Ltd is the entity named in the official notice as the technical contact point for implementation issues tied to JTS 182-1—2026.
