The first shipment of trucks, bagged cement, and refractory bricks manufactured in the Northeast departed from the Shandong-Liaoning Golden Waterway and was transshipped at Yantai Port to a cargo ship bound for Southeast Asia, formally inaugurating the Northeast China-Yantai-Southeast Asia general cargo route and reducing shippers’ door-to-door costs by 20%.

Port operator Shandong Port Group said the route “marks an important step in the port’s role as a key logistics hub for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and provides ASEAN nations with a new maritime link to the global trade value chain.”

Yantai Port, one of the 15 BRI pivot ports, leverages its location and logistics to transport high-performance Chinese construction equipment worldwide. It handles over 200 types of general cargo and operates a dense network of 28 foreign trade routes to over 30 countries in Southeast Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and the Middle East.

“The international general cargo terminal company, affiliated with Yantai Port, introduced comprehensive supply chain services, including space reservation, international freight transport, port loading, and fast direct shipments. This allows the new logistics model to reduce comprehensive logistics costs, which has earned it great recognition from customers,” stated SPG.
