Chinese aviation: International passenger and cargo volume increases 20% in October

China’s civil aviation industry recorded a year-on-year increase of more than 20% in both international passenger and cargo traffic in October.

The country’s monthly air cargo and mail performance exceeded 900,000 tons for the first time in history, as revealed by data from the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

In October, the total transport volume of the sector reached 14.6 billion ton-kilometers, 10.8% more than the previous year.

Passenger transport volume reached 67.84 million, an increase of 5.8 percent compared to the same period last year, and the volume of cargo and mail transport grew 13.4% to approximately 917,000 tons.

In the first 10 months, the total transport turnover of the sector grew 10.3% year-on-year, reaching 136.63 billion ton-kilometers. Approximately 650 million passenger trips were made during the period, 5.3% more year-on-year, while the volume of cargo and mail transport rose 13.9% to 8.31 million tons.
