China News Service, Chongqing, June 22 (Zhang Xu) With a whistle sounding, the X8013 train departed smoothly from Chongqing Tuanjie Village Central Station on the 22nd, and will pass through the Alataw Pass port, ultimately arriving at Vorsino Station in Russia.
This departure marks the first large-scale application of the 40-foot 35-ton universal automobile container in China-Europe Railway Express transportation scenarios. The train uses 55 such new-type universal automobile containers, carrying 182 Changan-brand self-owned brand passenger vehicles on the outbound journey, and will transport various types of cargo compatible with this container type on the return journey.
According to China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd., the 40-foot 35-ton universal automobile container is the company’s latest research and development equipment, mainly designed for the export transportation of domestic passenger vehicles. It has the advantages of a larger single-container loading capacity and stronger return cargo carrying capability.
The internal volume of this container is 84.3 cubic meters. Compared with the traditional 40-foot universal standard container, the height is increased by 234 millimeters. A single container can load 4 sedans or 3 SUVs, carrying one more vehicle than a standard container, meeting the transportation needs of most types of passenger vehicles on the market.
According to reports, after this new container type is put into use, it will effectively reduce the transportation cost per vehicle. At the same time, after the internal vehicle racks are dismantled, it can be used as a universal container to transport various types of container-compatible goods, reducing resource waste caused by empty container repositioning, fully releasing transportation efficiency, and achieving maximum utilization of transport capacity.
China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd. will take the launch of this new-type universal automobile container train as an opportunity to deepen international automotive logistics, strengthen the organization of return cargo sources for the trains, help improve quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency of the China-Europe Railway Express, and provide more solid support for domestic self-owned brand passenger vehicles to “go global”.
