On November 28th, the 2nd vessel of the 6400DWT refrigerated transport ship under construction at China Merchants Industry’s Qingdao Shipyard successfully completed the collection and verification of core measurement data under the lightship condition. With this, both vessels of the 6400DWT project have completed their inclining tests, laying a solid foundation for subsequent sea trials and high-quality delivery.

To ensure the smooth progress of the test, the Technical Department coordinated and advanced the preliminary preparations and test implementation. During the preparation phase, they led the organization of lightship condition inspections with the shipowner and ship surveyor, verifying the /water levels in the ship’s tanks and any excess or deficient weights one by one to ensure the vessel met the baseline conditions for the test. During the test execution, team members had clear divisions of labor and collaborated seamlessly with the shipowner and surveyor. They utilized hovering drones to observe the ship’s draft data and changes in floating attitude, effectively enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of data collection and successfully completing all core measurement tasks.

The test results confirmed that key indicators for both vessels, including the lightship weight, center of gravity, and initial metacentric height, all comply with the design standards. The test outcomes were highly recognized by the shipowner and ship surveyor.

In the next step, the Technical Department will continue to leverage its technical support role to ensure the two vessels smoothly progress towards their sea trial milestones.
