Colombia’s ports total more than 85 million tons mobilized in the first half of the year

The Caribbean region led the movement with 72.3 million tons (84.7%), followed by the Pacific region with 11.7 million tons (13.7%). The ports of Turbo, Santa Marta, and San Andrés showed the highest percentage growth in exports, with increases of 45.9%, 29.3%, and 8.1%, respectively.

In terms of imports, Turbo doubled its volume with a 109% increase, while Buenaventura and Santa Marta grew by 26% and 24.9% respectively. Furthermore, 6,456 vessels arrived in the country, a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2024; Cartagena accounted for 38.9% of these arrivals.

For their part, port companies moved 2.9 million TEU, equivalent to 24.8 million tons of cargo. Terminal de Contenedores de Cartagena S.A. led with 1.2 million TEUs (43.5%), followed by Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Cartagena with 550 thousand TEUs (19.2%).

“These results confirm that Colombia is strengthening its port infrastructure and advancing towards greater logistical competitiveness, generating employment and stimulating the economy. The modernization of our ports and the commitment to sustainable mobility are pillars of this Government to better connect the country with the world,” stated the Minister of Transport of Colombia, Mafe Rojas.
