CSSC Chengxi Shipyard signed a classification contract with DNV for the construction of 62,000-ton heavy lift vessels

On August 7, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), signed a construction and classification contract with DNV for a 62,000-ton heavy lift multipurpose vessel, marking the official launch of the project. Senior Vice President of DNV Group and Regional Manager for Greater China, Norbert Kray, General Manager of DNV North China, Yan Xiaolin, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of CSSC Chengxi, Zhou Jianxiang, Chief Engineer Ren Qiang, Deputy General Manager Li Hao, and other relevant leaders attended the signing ceremony.

The 62,000-ton heavy lift multipurpose vessel can flexibly transport oversized and heavy equipment as well as containers, with its technical performance reaching internationally leading standards: its Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) meets Phase 3 requirements, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions comply with Tier III standards, and sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions satisfy the latest international convention control targets.

This collaboration marks another partnership between CSSC Chengxi and DNV in the field of heavy lift vessels. Both parties will continue to deepen strategic cooperation, focusing on construction quality and process innovation, and collaborate closely in design review, on-site inspections, and full lifecycle technical services to deliver safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly high-end heavy lift multipurpose vessels to customers.
