Folding + Back-Loading Hatch Cover Designed by CSSC Huahai

Recently, the Technical Seminar on Anchorage Preparation for the 80,000DWT Grain Carrier was successfully held at CSSC Huahai, a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) 708 Research Institute, focusing on the risks and key concerns of anchorage preparation. During the meeting, participants highly praised the customized anchorage preparation technical solution developed by CSSC Huahai for this series of vessels, demonstrating the company’s strong technical capabilities.

The 80,000DWT grain carrier is equipped with seven cargo holds, with Holds 1-6 adopting back-loading hatch covers, each weighing 220 tons, while Hold 7 uses a folding hatch cover. Since the vessel must perform operations such as hatch opening, tank cleaning, and hold drying at anchorage, the safe opening and securing of hatch covers become a core issue for ensuring vessel operations. At the seminar, CSSC Huahai’s technical team systematically presented an integrated anchorage preparation solution, detailing hatch cover operation standards, safety securing mechanisms, and emergency measures for various working conditions, ensuring the stability and safety of hatch cover operations under all anchorage preparation scenarios.
