On July 23, the C16K-14, a dual-fuel 16,000 TEU container ship built by China Shipbuilding Group Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC) Tianjin for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), was named and delivered 161 days ahead of the contractual delivery date. This marks the fourth vessel of the same type delivered by DSIC Tianjin this year, signifying another milestone in its high-end shipbuilding capabilities.
The delivered vessel (Hull No. 14) has an overall length of 366 meters, a beam of 51 meters, and a depth of 30.2 meters, with a capacity of 16,196 standard containers (including 1,800 refrigerated containers). Its loading capacity, speed, fuel efficiency, and other performance and economic indicators are industry-leading.
During the construction process, DSIC Tianjin focused on key aspects such as “efficient block erection in dock, rapid commissioning at berth, and optimized sea trial procedures.” By implementing lean management and advancing digital construction techniques, breakthroughs were achieved in dock-out completeness, LNG bunkering cycle, and overall construction period. These accomplishments reflect the company’s commitment to scientific planning, refined construction, and efficiency enhancement, further demonstrating DSIC Tianjin’s first-class product quality.
Amid the golden summer, with favorable winds filling its sails, DSIC Tianjin will take this high-quality delivery as a starting point to propel a new wave of production. The company remains steadfast in its mission to become a world-class shipbuilder, sailing toward broader horizons on the deep blue stage.
