Cyclonic storm Ditwah prompts high alert at Indian ports

The ports in this region includeChennai, Ennore,Kattupalli and Karaikal.

According to the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS), the storm is currently located over coastal Sri Lanka and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal.

The storm is expected to continue moving north–northwestwards, crossing the Sri Lankan coast and the southwest Bay of Bengal before reaching areas near North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh by early morning on 30 November.

At the time of publishing this article, the ports in the affected area continue functioning normally. However, the situation is subject to change depending on weather conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across Tamil Nadu from 28 November through 30 November.
