Recently, the intelligent water-bending and flame-bending production line jointly developed by Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry and Dalian Huiyou was put into trial operation in the #1 interior workshop, providing a domestically produced solution for the intelligent transformation of ship curved surface processing.

Water-bending and flame-bending is a key core process in shipbuilding, and is also widely recognized in the industry as the process link with the greatest difficulty in standardization and digital-intelligent transformation.

The pain points of the traditional double-curved plate flame forming process are prominent: wooden templates consume large amounts of material, occupy space, and are prone to deformation; processing relies on veteran craftsmen operating by naked eye and experience, making it difficult to standardize and pass on process experience; under high-temperature working conditions, repeated manual measurement and comparison result in high labor intensity and low production efficiency, which have long constrained improvements in production capacity and processing quality.

To address the bottlenecks and difficulties in on-site production, Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry and Dalian Huiyou carried out special technical research. The project broke away from the superficial transformation approach of “simply replacing labor with equipment,” extracted the practical experience of frontline senior flame craftsmen, and transformed the forming process logic into digital algorithms and machine vision recognition models.

The project team independently developed a non-penetration constraint registration algorithm, completely replacing traditional wooden templates with digital virtual templates; restructured the entire workflow operation system, forming a “four one-click” standardized operation mode. The software and hardware of the entire production line are fully domestically produced and self-contained, adapted to the existing production processes of the shipyard, systematically solving various shortcomings of traditional processes.

With the trial operation of the new production line, the efficiency of ship curved plate processing operations has been significantly improved, and the precision of forming dimension control has been simultaneously upgraded.
