The consecutive conclusion of tenders in regional service areas with progressively increasing public shares is being criticized by sector representatives as “economic unsustainability” and “weakening of the competitive environment.” The Ceyhan tender was also completed under the shadow of these debates.

DEKAŞ will undertake the pilotage service in Ceyhan for 20 years.

In the tender, which a total of 7 firms participated in, the second highest bid came from Sanmar with 80 percent, followed by Uzmar with a 78 percent public share offer.

Çelikcan OGG, which placed fourth, attracted attention with comments that it withdrew at a reasonable limit, assessing that offering a higher rate under the current economic conditions was not rational, in the tender it participated in with a 69 percent public share offer.

Sector authorities argue that with the Ceyhan tender, public share ratios have risen above a sustainable level, warning that this practice could negatively affect service quality and investments in the long term.
