A new Global Maritime Forum report shows China, India, Brazil and other emerging economies launching green shipping corridors at an unprecedented pace, helping raise the global total to 84 despite the IMO’s one-year delay of its net-zero framework. These corridors are increasingly viewed not just as climate projects but as strategic infrastructure that can deliver industrial and geopolitical advantages. However, many initiatives face a “feasibility wall” due to the high cost of zero-emission fuels and limited government action. The report urges industry and governments to accelerate work over the next year, using national programs such as the EU’s Global Gateway and Australia’s Hydrogen Headstart to maintain momentum.
