DP World has secured a five-year extension to continue operating the B5 container berth at Thailand’s Laem Chabang Port through its joint venture Laem Chabang International Terminal Co., Ltd., according to DP World.
The contract was granted by the Port Authority of Thailand and runs from May 2026 to April 2031.
The extension keeps DP World in place at one of Thailand’s main container gateways through LCIT, which operates the B5 and C3 berths at Laem Chabang.
The facilities provide 900 metres of berth length, can handle up to four vessels at the same time and include 4,420 square metres of on-dock container freight station capacity.
In 2025, LCIT handled a record 1.936 million TEU. DP World said the extension will support further investment in terminal efficiency and decarbonisation after LCIT deployed five electric internal transfer vehicles in 2025, cutting emissions by about 60% against diesel alternatives.
Additional eITVs, electric reach stackers and an electric empty container handler are planned for 2026.
An earlier official trace of the agreement appeared in a Thai-language post on LCIT’s official Facebook page dated April 20 stating that an amendment to the B5 investment concession agreement had been signed for a further five years.
DP World is an end-to-end supply chain operator with activities spanning ports and terminals, logistics, marine services and related infrastructure across 84 countries.
Laem Chabang International Terminal Co., Ltd. is the joint-venture operating company through which DP World runs its Laem Chabang container terminal business in Thailand.
