Dutch companies consider investing in Paraguay’s maritime logistics sector

A trade mission visited Paraguay to explore investment opportunities for Dutch firms in the shipping logistics sector. The delegation, composed of businesspeople from sectors such as ship paint, coatings, and dredging shipbuilding, expressed their interest in establishing themselves in the country.

During the visit, the Vice Ministers of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), Marco Riquelme and Rodrigo Maluff, presented information about Paraguay and the “Paraguay 2X” program.

Specialists from the Investment and Export Network (Rediex) offered technical support to the investors. Accompanying Argentine delegates highlighted Paraguay as a “regional star,” emphasizing its attractiveness for investment.

The possible installation of assembly plants, construction of dredging ships, and manufacturing of naval paint were explored, in addition, Dutch companies already established in Paraguay shared their experiences.

Vice Minister Riquelme highlighted the development of the Paraguay waterway as a key competitive advantage and a regional hub for the shipbuilding industry, emphasizing the international interest in its development.

Wiger Franke, General Director of Wequips, a company dedicated to smart buoys and dredging equipment, identified great potential in Paraguay, especially with the expansion of the waterway and the implementation of new technologies.

In this regard, he expressed his surprise at the incentives offered by Paraguay, considering them attractive for European and Latin American companies seeking to expand in Latin America.

The ambassador of the Netherlands to Argentina, Nadji Bilik, stated that the mission focused on exploring business opportunities and fostering collaboration between Dutch and Paraguayan companies.

The delegation, composed of six Dutch companies and four companies from the shipping sector and its supply chain, showed great interest in the opportunities offered by Paraguay.

Bilik highlighted Paraguay’s economic stability and its favorable fiscal incentives, considered unique in the region, reported the MIC.
