BC Premier David Eby says his government is relying on the Nisga’a Nation to help build support among neighbouring First Nations that have opposed the $17-billion Ksi Lisims LNG project, which recently received both federal and provincial approval. Developed with Nisga’a, Rockies LNG, and Western LNG, the project will build two floating facilities off Pearse Island capable of producing 12 million tonnes of LNG annually. Federal Energy Minister Tim Hodgson hailed it as one of Canada’s largest private-sector investments and a model of the new “one project, one review” system.
