Equinor, BP agree strategic supplier deal with Heerema
Heerema is assigned to a number of installation projects in Europe, and will provide a Jones Act-compliant solution in the US

Heerema Marine Contractors has been selected as a strategic supplier on behalf of the 50-50 partnership between Equinor and BP that is developing the Empire Wind and Beacon Wind projects

Under the terms of the agreement, Heerema will transport and install foundations and offshore substations for the projects on the US east coast.

The agreement will cover a firm period of seven years. Throughout this period, Equinor and BP as 50% joint venture partners and Heerema will collaborate as exclusive partners on Jones Act-compliant execution of the projects.

Together, Heerema and Equinor will also focus on optimising the economic benefits the projects can generate for the New York State communities.

Heerema chief executive Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven said, “This agreement is another chapter in our long history of working with Equinor and BP.

“The future of offshore wind relies on strong forward-looking partnerships that recognise the need to secure transport and installation capacity.”

Empire Wind and Beacon Wind are being developed by a 50-50 partnership between Equinor and BP. Equinor will be the operator through the development, construction and operations phase of the project.

Heerema’s offshore wind portfolio includes, among other projects, installation of the monopile foundations on the He Dreiht project in Germany, wind turbine generators for the Arcadis Ost 1 project in Germany, the substation for the Baltic Eagle project, also in Germany, and the substation for the Dogger Bank C project in the UK.

The Offshore Wind Journal Conference will be held 14 June 2022. Details and tickets can be found here
