Hohhot, November 20 (Xinhua) — China Railway Hohhot Bureau Group Co., Ltd. reported on the 20th that on the same day, a China-Europe freight train loaded with 55 containers departed from the Erenhot Railway Port in Inner Mongolia, sounding its whistle as it headed towards Europe. This marks the China-Europe freight train volume via the central route (referring to the Erenhot Railway Port) surpassing 3,500 trains for the year.
The Erenhot Port is located in the central part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and is China’s largest land port open to Mongolia. According to the railway department, this is the first time the annual volume has exceeded 3,500 trains since the Erenhot Railway Port began handling China-Europe freight trains in 2013.
It is reported that the Erenhot Railway Port currently operates 74 China-Europe freight train routes, reaching over 70 hub stations in more than 10 countries including Germany and Poland, and serving most of the originating cities for China-Europe freight trains within China.
With the continuous growth in cross-border transport demand, the destinations, quantity, and types of goods carried by the China-Europe freight trains via the Erenhot Railway Port have all shown a sustained growth trend, exceeding 3,000 trains annually for three consecutive years. The types of goods transported have gradually shifted from the initial focus on metals, chemicals, clothing, and footwear to now being dominated by high-value-added products such as new energy vehicles, electronic products, and household appliances.
