Ultraport announced the appointment of Estefanía Mera as new manager of the Teck Quebrada Blanca Maritime Terminal operation, in Iquique, Tarapacá Region.
Prior to this appointment, the executive served as deputy manager of operations and asset management at Terminal Graneles del Norte (TGN), in Mejillones, Antofagasta Region.
Estefanía Mera is an industrial civil engineer from the Universidad de Tarapacá. She also holds two diplomas from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Management Analytics and in Operational Excellence.
“Her career at the company began in Arica, where she served as projects and management engineer. Subsequently, she took on the deputy management of asset and project management at Ultraport Puerto Angamos and then the deputy management of operations and asset management at Ultraport TGN, a position she held before this new responsibility,” reported the port operator with a presence at ten terminals throughout Chile.
“The appointment of Estefanía Mera also reflects the advancement of women within Ultraport, where they currently already represent 21% of the workforce nationwide, taking on various leadership positions and operational areas. With this designation, the executive becomes the second woman to lead a branch of the company, following the arrival of Arlin Marchant to the management of Ultraport Mejillones,” he added.
For her part, the new manager at the Teck Quebrada Blanca Maritime Terminal indicated that “this operation provides direct support to our client Teck at its Teck Quebrada Blanca Maritime Terminal in the handling and export of its copper concentrate, so maintaining operational continuity with the safety that characterizes us is vital for a production chain that does not stop. I take on this challenge with great commitment, where the quality and reliability of the service will be our hallmark.”
Meanwhile, Matías Ormazábal, manager of mechanized ports at Ultraport, stated that “Estefanía knows firsthand the demands of mechanized ports and has successfully demonstrated her ability to generate meaningful relationships with our clients, lead teams, manage assets, and provide continuity to critical operations.”
“Her experience in Arica, Puerto Angamos, and TGN will be fundamental to continue adding value sustainably in this new stage at the Teck Quebrada Blanca Maritime Terminal. We also value that this appointment continues opening spaces for more women to take on leadership positions within Ultraport,” he added.
