Euroports, Europe’s largest port infrastructure operator, marked the signing of a new 25-year concession agreement with the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority (AdSP MAS) for Terminal Rinfuse Venezia (TRV) at Porto Marghera, the company said in a statement.
The company announced an investment program aimed at transforming TRV into the Adriatic’s leading agricultural gateway, supported by Euroports’ more than 25 years of experience in dry bulk logistics.
According to Euroports CEO Frederic Platini, “For Euroports, Venice and the Port of Marghera represent far more than strategic infrastructure – they embody our commitment to essential commodity supply chains that serve European markets.”
Under the plan, cargo handling capacity at the terminal is projected to reach 3.56 million tons by 2050, supported by expanded storage facilities, new silos, and enhanced rail infrastructure providing multimodal connectivity.
The company said the expansion contributes to Euroports’ goal of a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, including a 30% shift from road to rail transport.
Euroports indicated that TRV handles about 1 million tonnes annually of agribulk cargo and will continue to operate under food safety certifications such as GMP+ and HACCP.
