The Fred. Olsen Express vessel Buenavista Express, incorporated into the company’s fleet this summer after the sale from Armas Trasmediterránea, continues to advance in the comprehensive renewal process before its commissioning. In this framework, the former Fortuny will arrive on November 24 at the Navantia shipyards in the Ría de Ferrol to continue with this process, a scheduled dry-docking, corresponding to the next phase of this renewal.
During the last few weeks, the Buenavista Express completed the first part of this refit in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, focused on the modernization of machinery and interiors.
In this new phase in Ferrol, the external hull and paint interventions will be carried out, while the completion of other ongoing work continues, thus completing the upgrade plan designed by the shipping company.
The Buenavista Express is scheduled to begin operating on the Huelva-Canarias route during the first half of January, according to the established schedule.

The ship is a RoPax type vessel that can transport up to 1,850 linear meters of cargo. With a length of 172 meters, it reaches a maximum speed of 21.5 knots.
The vessel can accommodate up to 1,250 passengers and 390 vehicles, more than 200 double and quadruple cabins with capacity for more than 750 passengers, nearly 550 seats in different types of armchairs, cafeterias, and restaurant and terrace services.
Furthermore, it will have special services for pets, Gold Class accommodation, cabins adapted for passengers with reduced mobility, as well as other services that characterize this maritime route.
