Syracuse – A fire that could have had very serious consequences was extinguished in record time at pier 19 of the Isab refinery in Syracuse. The intervention of the crew of the ship “Fenicusa M”, under the command of Lanfranco Tagliatti, was decisive. As soon as the flames rose from the pier and the terminal personnel activated the extinguishing systems, from the ship of the Navalmed company of the Brullo family, which in turn was at risk of being caught in the fire, all on-board fire-fighting systems were activated and aimed at the pier; meanwhile, the ship, with a load of gasoline in a tank, to avoid being caught in the flames, released its mooring lines and with the support of a tugboat moved away from the dock; after being unmoored by the pilot, it then anchored in the roadstead.
