From June 29 to 30, the 1250TEU methanol dual-fuel open-top container vessels, Hull No. 2 and Hull No. 3, built by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited for the German company Elbdeich, were successfully delivered, highlighting the company’s mature construction capabilities in the field of green dual-fuel vessels and adding a brilliant touch to the company’s production performance in the first half of the year.

This type of vessel was researched and designed by the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), with a total length of 148 meters and a molded breadth of 27.2 meters. It is a new type of environmentally friendly vessel using methanol and fuel oil dual-fuel and EGR, capable of meeting the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III emission requirements, with overall performance and construction quality reaching international first-class standards. As a new generation of green vessel integrating environmental protection, energy saving, efficiency, and economy, it assists the shipowner in practicing low-carbon shipping and achieving decarbonization goals.

Against the current trend of accelerating low-carbon transformation in the global shipping industry, green-powered vessels will significantly reduce the shipowner’s compliance costs and carbon emission pressure. After delivery, this series of vessels will help the shipowner seize the first-mover advantage in green shipping capacity for cross-ocean trade transportation and build long-term market competitive advantages.

Huangpu Wenchong will continue to deeply cultivate green vessel construction, drive product upgrades through technological innovation, solidify quality foundations with lean intelligent manufacturing, and continuously launch more efficient, lower-carbon, and more competitive green vessel products, continuously contributing China’s shipbuilding strength to the global shipping industry’s low-carbon transformation.

In the first half of 2026, Huangpu Wenchong closely adhered to the annual management theme of “Stable Delivery, Quality Improvement, Safety Assurance, and Change Promotion,” relying on full-process lean management, deepening intelligent manufacturing and technological process innovation, continuously optimizing production resource allocation, and improving construction efficiency. In the first half of the year, the civil ship segment cumulatively completed and delivered 19 vessels, achieving 136% of the half-year delivery plan, exceeding the group’s target. Among them, the main batch products constructed by the Ship and Offshore Division continued to maintain a rhythm of early delivery, more delivery, and fast delivery. The 17 products delivered in the first half of the year cumulatively achieved a total of 1504 days ahead of the contracted delivery schedule, continuously polishing the “Huangpu Wenchong” brand with robust履约能力 and stable construction quality.
