“A figure who indelibly marked the Italian port world. His action remains to this day an indispensable reference”

Naples – 5 years have passed since the death of Francesco Nerli. The regional secretariats of Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti of Campania, together with all the female and male workers of the Adsp of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea – recounts a heartfelt statement – remember with deep gratitude and affection a figure who indelibly marked the Italian port world”
The note continues: “A system President, a man of labor and the Institutions, a rigorous but always loyal interlocutor, Nerli knew how to combine competence, vision and an extraordinary capacity for dialogue with all social and employer parties. His action remains to this day an indispensable reference for those who work every day for the growth of the ports and for the protection of port labor. Francesco was not only an administrator, he was a builder of balance, a supporter of the dignity of work and of the centrality of the port sector in the economic life of the Country. In this moment of great discussions and hypotheses for reforming Law 84/94, of which he was the noble father, we cannot help but wonder what he would say. Probably, with his ironic smile and usual clarity, he would remind us that reforms only work when they know how to distinguish the waves of the sea from the waves of improvisation”.
And further: “And regarding certain ideas circulated recently, let’s say it gently, he would have expressed a dissent as firm as it was polite, as only he knew how to do. Five years after his death, the memory of Francesco Nerli does not fade, it continues to accompany us like a discreet lighthouse, which illuminates the route without ever overloading the view. To him go our thoughts, our respect and our commitment to defending a modern, just port system that is truly at the service of the Country”.
