Singapore-based Nura Shipco Management has formally launched operations under the leadership of former Fleet Management executive Aga Nagarajan, marking the arrival of a new player in the shipmanagement sector.

The company was established in January 2026 in partnership with Nura International Shipping and is positioning itself as a quality-focused management platform centred on compliance, crew welfare and long-term growth.

A key milestone came this month after Nura Shipco went live with its own document of compliance (DOC), allowing the company to begin operating independently as a shipmanager.

The DOC launch is being supported by MTM Ship Management, which is assisting with key functions as the company ramps up operations.

Nagarajan, who spent nearly three decades at Fleet Management, said the new venture represented a fresh chapter in his maritime career after stepping down from his executive director role at the end of 2024.

“The maritime industry is evolving rapidly, and Nura Shipco is positioned to be part of that transformation,” he said.

“Our mission is clear: to create a quality-focused, future-ready shipmanagement platform that prioritises compliance, crew welfare and sustainable growth.”

Nagarajan joined Fleet Management in 1997 as head of fleet personnel and rose through the ranks before being appointed executive director in 2016, overseeing the company’s seagoing human capital strategy across its managed fleet.

Following his departure from Fleet, he also took on a role representing the Isle of Man Ship Registry in Hong Kong, helping promote the flag internationally.

Nura Shipco has also brought in another longtime Fleet executive. Kannan Soundararajan, who recently stepped down as executive director at Fleet Management, has joined the new company as chief operating officer.

Nagarajan described Soundararajan as both a longtime colleague and close industry associate, with the pair having worked together since the mid-1990s.
