China and Russia aim to increase their cargo traffic via the Northern Sea Route to 20 million tons by 2030, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev recently told reporters following the second meeting of the Sino-Russian committee on the development of the said maritime artery.
“We have not only set a goal to increase the volume [of cargo traffic] to 20 million tons by 2030, but our roadmap also details various areas of cooperation,” he stated, commenting on the approval of the action plan for the further development of maritime transport along the Northern Sea Route.
The development and approval of the plan aim to create a sustainable transport corridor. The cooperation includes the implementation of modern logistics solutions and technological solutions to improve transport efficiency and develop investment projects.
