On October 13, the FN405-2, an 8100DWT general cargo ship built by Funing Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding, for a Dubai shipowner, was successfully launched. This further demonstrates Funing Heavy Industry’s diversified technical capabilities in the field of ship design and construction.
This type of ship has an overall length of 141 meters, a beam of 17 meters, a depth of 6 meters, a sea draft of 4.7 meters, an inland draft of 3.6 meters, and a speed of 10.6 knots. Its deadweight tonnage is approximately 8100 tons at sea draft and about 5300 tons at inland draft, and it is classed by RINA. The ship design is flexible and versatile, primarily used for transporting containers, dry bulk cargo, packaged goods, general cargo, oversized cargo, and heavy lifts. Dangerous goods of types related to IMDG can also be loaded on the hatch covers, excluding the area within 3 meters around the superstructure.
Currently, both ships in this series have been successfully launched and are simultaneously undergoing outfitting and system debugging work at the dock. The project team is closely monitoring key milestones, coordinating resources, and fully advancing the subsequent construction tasks to ensure the overall schedule is controlled and quality standards are met. The aim is to achieve the delivery of both ships within 2025, laying a solid foundation for Fujian Shipbuilding to further explore the international market and deepen cooperation along the “Belt and Road”.
