On May 7, China Classification Society (CCS) issued the world’s first AiP (Approval in Principle) certificate for a “Conceptual Digital Ship Based on Digital Delivery” to COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou). Leaders from CCS Jiangsu Branch, COSCO Shipping Bulk, Tianjin COSCO Shipping Ship Technology Service Co., Ltd., and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) jointly witnessed the certificate awarding ceremony and conducted in-depth exchanges on the deepening implementation of the ship digital delivery system, technological innovation, and industry promotion.
Ship digital delivery is the core carrier for the shipbuilding industry to transition from “physical delivery” to “digital value delivery.” It runs through the entire process of ship design and construction, enabling the digital construction, integration, and transfer of ship static information. As a key support for implementing COSCO Shipping Group’s “Cargo, Ship, People” trinity science and technology innovation strategy and strengthening the “Ship” platform construction, ship digital delivery connects the entire business chain of design, construction, delivery, operation, and maintenance. It not only provides core data support for the full lifecycle operation of intelligent ships but also aligns with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s development direction of promoting the deep integration of the industrial internet with the shipbuilding industry and accelerating the digital and intelligent transformation of manufacturing, thereby empowering and enhancing the high-quality development of the shipbuilding industry. The issuance of this world’s first AiP certificate marks that COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou)’s digital delivery technology and practical capabilities have entered the international advanced ranks and received authoritative recognition. It also fills a gap in the field of global conceptual digital ship digital delivery, fully demonstrating the core competitiveness of China’s shipbuilding industry in the intelligent digital赛道.
Adhering to the overall approach of “standards first, system support, demonstration and leadership,” and anchoring the development goal of becoming a “China-leading, world-class green and intelligent shipyard,” COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) continues to deeply cultivate the field of ship digital delivery, gradually building a comprehensive, multi-level digital delivery system. In terms of standard construction, it took the lead in establishing a complete framework of “1 overall process + 5 sub-standard systems,” addressing the shortcomings of industry digital delivery standards. In terms of system research and development, it took the lead in implementing the collaborative application of three terminals: shipyard, shore base, and ship, covering core scenarios such as data synchronization, intelligent query, and online Q&A. Customized features such as automatic tank capacity calculation, correlation between 2D drawings and 3D models, and maintenance and technical modification support have been developed based on shipowner needs to improve ship operation and maintenance efficiency. In terms of pilot application, using the 325k VLOC demonstration ship as a carrier to promote the implementation of digital delivery, the core data collection and organization have been completed and will be delivered synchronously with the actual ship. This is expected to create a global benchmark project for ship digital delivery and accumulate mature experience for large-scale industry promotion.
This award of the world’s first AiP certificate is not only a landmark achievement in the digital transformation of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) but also an important breakthrough in the intelligent and digital development of the domestic shipbuilding industry, collectively reflecting the level of independent innovation in China’s ship digital intelligence field. As a key domestic shipbuilding enterprise, the company will take this certification as a new starting point, closely following the maritime power strategy and the requirements for high-quality development of the shipbuilding industry. It will continue to refine digital technology, deepen the implementation of scenario applications, strengthen the professional talent team, deepen industry-university-research collaborative innovation, and work hand in hand with CCS and industry colleagues to strive to create a “Yangzhou Heavy Industry Model” for ship digital delivery, contributing to the construction of COSCO Shipping Group’s “Ship” platform and adding bricks and tiles to the high-quality development of China’s shipbuilding industry.
