GMP acquires new hybrid straddle carriers

GMP has also just taken delivery of the first series of 13 units.

Delivered to the Terminal de l’Europe in Le Havre on 6 April by Kalmar, these vehicles are contributing to the company’s low-carbon strategy, while improving the flow and safety of goods through its terminals.

Equipped with a100 per cent hybrid engine, these straddle carriersaim to reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, while improving driver safety and comfort.

Its redesigned cabs and reduced noise levelscontribute to optimised working conditions.

This€45 million ($49.7 million) investment, which follows the delivery of 12 units in 2023, is part of GMP’s overall green transition strategy.

Eventually, at a total cost of €65 million ($71.8 million), the company will have afleet of 2/3-motor vehicles powered by 100 per cent hybrids, boosting both its productivity and its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.

Last November, Qair, a renewable energy company, secured a parcel at HAROPA Port in Le Havre, France, to develop its e-methanol production project, Methavert.
