The Grimaldi Group has taken delivery of a new Pure Car & Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessel. This was the Grande Melbourne, which was christened at the Port of Shanghai.
This ship is the third of seven ammonia-ready PCTCs that have been built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS) for the Grimaldi Group.
Designed for maximum efficiency and versatility, this 200-meter-long vessel can carry up to 9,241 CEU and halve CO2 emissions per unit of cargo transported.
Xu Huayan, Director of Shanghai Haitong International Automotive Terminal Co., was the vessel’s godmother, highlighting the strong cooperation between the Chinese terminal and the Grimaldi Group.
Now ready to begin its maiden voyage on the Asia-Europe route, with around 5,900 cars and 800 linear meters of rolling cargo on board, the Grande Melbourne strengthens the Grimaldi Group’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and efficient global logistics.
