On October 6, 2025, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, a 4200DWT refrigerated transport ship was being prepared for its final pre-launch procedures within the facility of Zhoushan Hetai Ship Repair & Building Co., Ltd.
This ship is of steel construction, with a single deck, double bottom, single hull, and a mixed framing system. It features a forecastle, a single propeller, a single rudder, and is an aft-engine vessel. It is powered by a single low-speed two-stroke diesel engine. The power output from the main engine drives a fixed-pitch propeller via the intermediate shaft and the propeller shaft. The vessel is equipped with a double bottom and a rudder with a rudder horn.
The ship has an overall length of 112 meters and is an ocean-going ultra-low temperature refrigerated transport ship, certified for unlimited navigation areas. It is primarily used for transshipping catches from fishing grounds and for transporting refrigerated cargo between fishing grounds and ports, as well as between ports.
Its most critical feature is its ultra-low temperature range. While ordinary refrigerated ships typically operate around -25°C, the cargo hold temperature of an ultra-low temperature refrigerated ship must be able to stably maintain between -55°C and -60°C or even lower. This temperature is necessary for deep-freezing tuna to preserve its raw edible quality and commercial value!
