Explosions occurred last night in Iran’s Bandar Abbas city and Qeshm Island. Tensions escalated in the Strait of Hormuz following the explosions. US-based news channel Fox News, citing a US official, alleged that the attacks against Iran were carried out by the US military despite the ceasefire between the parties. It was noted that the official indicated these attacks do not mean the war has resumed.
Iranian state television had previously reported that Iran launched a missile attack on “enemy elements” in the Strait of Hormuz region because the US military had intercepted an Iranian oil tanker. The report stated, “After suffering damage, the enemy forces were forced to flee.”
Following the incident, various claims emerged. Israeli sources, in statements to local media, asserted that the Tel Aviv administration had no connection to the explosions in Iran. Some sources claimed that fighter jets belonging to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) targeted parts of the commercial sections of Bahman Pier on Qeshm Island.
Attack on US warships

Iran: US military violated ceasefire
Spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Ibrahim Zolfaqari, announced that the US violated the ceasefire by targeting Iranian vessels and some civilian areas. In his statement, Zolfaqari said, “The aggressor, the US military, violated the ceasefire by targeting an Iranian oil tanker moving from the Jask region towards the Strait of Hormuz in Iran’s coastal waters, and another vessel entering the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of the UAE’s Port of Fujairah. Simultaneously, with the cooperation of some regional countries, civilian areas on the coasts of Bandar Hemir, Sirik, and Qeshm Island were also subjected to air attack.”
Stating that the Iranian Armed Forces responded immediately, Zolfaqari said, “Attacks were carried out on US military elements east of the Strait of Hormuz and south of Chabahar Port, causing serious damage. The guilty and aggressive US and the countries supporting it should know well that Iran, as in the past, will respond strongly and destructively to any attack and violation today without any hesitation.”
Statement from Trump
US President Donald Trump made statements by phone to the ABC News broadcasting organization regarding the recent military tension with Iran. Stating that the ceasefire continues despite Iran’s attacks on US warships passing through the Strait of Hormuz and the US retaliations against this, Trump said, “The ceasefire continues. It is still in effect.”
