New losses were recently recorded by VLGC freight rates, in contrast to those of smaller capacity LPG carriers, which remained stable.
In particular, according to a report by the shipbroking firm Fearnleys, the freight cost of a VLGC, with a capacity of 84,000 c.m., decreased by $100,000 monthly for the week ending Wednesday, October 15th. Therefore, VLGC freight rates are now set at $1.6 million per month.
At the same time, freight rates for the smaller sizes remained stable. Specifically, the freight rates for LGCs with a capacity of 60,000 c.m. are set
at $1.1 million per month, while those for MGCs with a capacity of 38,000 c.m. amount to $1 million per month.
