Inchcape pulls off heavy transport from Netherlands to Turkey

Inchcape Netherlands team recently collaborated ISS Palumbo and Leth for a special heavy transport operation from Greenport Pernis to Turkey. The cargo in question was a dock that was initially located in Port of Rotterdam’s Greenport Pernis but needed to be towed to the Europort area (P80). There it was loaded on the semi-submersible heavy transport vessel GPO Emerald.

GPO Emerald is one of four GPO vessels of equal design, featuring a length of 225 metres, a breadth of 48 metres and a deadweight of 64,000 tons.

The dedicated and experienced teams of Inchcape and ISS Palumbo worked to ensure that the dock was safely and efficiently transported to its new location. The dock was loaded onto the GPO Emerald on March 25, and the vessel finally set sail on the evening of March 29.

The dock is now on its way to Turkey, where it will be discharged for the buyers. This operation required careful planning, coordination, and execution. Inchape turned to David den Broeder, Managing Director at ISS Palumbo Netherland, who coordinated the operation over several weeks, making sure the task was completed.
