The initiative took place as part of the Italian Port Days and the Preview of the Erasmus Days events, promoted and coordinated by the Provincial Education Office of Livorno, in collaboration with the Port System Authority of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea and the Municipality of Piombino.
An occasion of high symbolic and cultural value, which aimed to celebrate the School as a place of growth, inclusion, and active citizenship, enhancing the daily work of teachers, students, and school staff, committed with passion to building innovative and meaningful educational paths.
The day’s program had an itinerant character, with stops in each of the city’s institutes, starting with the “Piombino 1” Comprehensive Institute, continuing with the Comprehensive Institute of the 2 Seas, the “Leon Battista Alberti” high schools, the ISIS Carducci-Volta-Pacinotti and the ISIS “Val di Cornia”.
Taking part in the ceremony was the Councillor for Education, Youth Policies and Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Piombino, Simona Cresci, who in her speech wanted to emphasize how this day represents not only a moment of celebration, but also a concrete recognition of the value of the School as an educational and social stronghold. «It is essential to recognize and enhance the daily work that takes place within our schools — she stated — work that is often silent, but of extraordinary importance for the growth of new generations. As the Municipal Administration, we will continue to firmly support all those school realities that, with commitment and innovation, promote inclusion, participation, and civic sense».
Also present at the ceremony were the Head of the Provincial Education Office of Livorno, Cristina Grieco and the Head of the Training and Promotion Department of the Port System Authority of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, Claudio Capuano, who highlighted the added value of these initiatives: “Events of this kind represent an important tool to bring the port ever closer to the school, introducing students to maritime professions and the future opportunities offered by the sector,” he stated, adding that “we will continue the initiatives already started, including the Paths for Transversal Skills and Orientation (PCTO), the “Porto Aperto” project and orientation towards Higher Technical Institutes (ITS).”
