John Fredriksen appoints new CEO of Seatankers

John Fredriksen has found a new CEO for Seatankers Holding, which controls large parts of Fredriksen’s businesses, including Seadrill and Frontline.

Tor Andre Svelland is the name of the new man at the helm of John Fredriksen’s holding company Seatankers Holding, writes Reuters.

Seatankers Holding is the majority shareholder of several Fredriksen companies, including drilling company Seadrill, dry bulk shipping company Golden Ocean and not least tanker shipping company Frontline.

The new CEO, Svelland, is 53 years old and originally began his career within shipping. Most recently, however, he served as CEO and CIO of Svelland Capital, a UK-based hedge fund with activities in the shipping industry, among other things.

During his career, Svelland has furthermore worked for banking major Goldman Sachs and commodity trader Trafigura, which Frontline acquired several tankers from last year.

Svelland also recently joined the boards of both Frontline and Golden Ocean. He replaces Harald Thorstein, who left the company earlier this year.
