Kalmar closed an agreement with Rotterdam Shortsea Terminals (RST) for the supply of five hybrid straddle carriers, whose delivery is planned for the third quarter of 2026.
RST is the largest shortsea shipping hub in Europe, with approximately 350 employees, offering container handling and storage, as well as a wide range of additional services such as empty container depot, cross-docking and more.
The five new hybrid straddle carriers are part of RST’s fleet renewal program, which aims to expand capacity and improve environmental performance. The company previously ordered six identical machines in 2023 to support its corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives.
“These new hybrid machines represent another concrete step forward in our continuous improvement of environmental performance with Kalmar as a long-term partner. The hybrid technology is perfectly suited to our operations, helping us to reduce fuel consumption and emissions without compromising equipment performance or service quality,” stated Arno Storm, Chief Executive Officer of RST.
