Kavala: 44-year-old sailor injured during the process of disentangling a mooring line on the ship “Blue Star Myconos”.
In the early hours of today, the Port Authority of Kavala was informed about the injury of a 44-year-old Greek national sailor (specialty seaman) of the passenger-car carrier (P/C) “BLUE STAR MYCONOS” N.P.10882.
Specifically, during the departure of the P/C for the port of Myrina, the ship’s mooring line became entangled in the left propeller, resulting in the injury of the 44-year-old in the thigh of his left leg during the process of disentangling the mooring line. The sailor was received by an EKAB ambulance vehicle and transported to the General Hospital of Kavala, for medical examinations and hospitalization.
Subsequently, an inspection was carried out by a diving team and the mooring line was disentangled from the propeller. Following the submission of the relevant certificate of class retention by the supervising naval surveyor, the ship departed from the port of Kavala with 393 passengers, 86 P.V., 25 T/L and 3 T/R for its scheduled route to the ports of Myrina-Mytilene-Chios- Vathy- Karlovasi- Fournoi- Agios Kirykos-Mykonos-Syros- Piraeus. A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Central Port Authority of Kavala.
