Kikilias: We promote development agreements for stability and prosperity in the Mediterranean

Vasilis Kikilias pointed out that “strengthening the cooperation between Greece and Egypt in these sectors is not only a matter of diplomacy, but a real necessity for the development of the Mediterranean.”

The minister mentioned that “Greece possesses the strongest fleet in the world, has a timeless relationship with Egypt and, therefore, the two countries are moving forward together dynamically in investments and in the upgrade of ports, infrastructure and facilities.”

Continuing, he underlined the importance of investment agreements and partnerships in the sector of maritime transport, ports, infrastructure and energy.

Regarding the Greece-Egypt energy interconnection he noted that “in the coming years a major investment between Egypt and Greece will be realized, the electrical cable from Egypt to Greece and subsequently electrical energy will be provided to the rest of the European Union.”

Concluding, he highlighted the importance of the partnerships: “I hope that we can all work together, through commercial, investment and energy agreements, which will help the two peoples to progress and improve their standard of living. Cooperation and interconnection can offer stability, security and development to both countries.”
