On August 5, the Hong Kong Green Marine Fuel Development Exchange Delegation (hereinafter referred to as the Hong Kong Delegation), led by Liao Zhenxin, Deputy Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, visited the China International Communications and Knowledge Center for Sustainable Transport (hereinafter referred to as the International Center). The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on green marine fuel and reached a consensus on cooperation.
The International Center and the Hong Kong Transport and Logistics Bureau jointly organized the “Green Marine Fuel Industry Cooperation Seminar.” Liao Zhenxin and Liu Peng, Director of the International Center, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. More than 50 members of the Hong Kong Delegation from The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited, Wah Kwong Energy Limited, CIMC Enric Holdings Limited, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and other organizations attended the meeting in full; the International Center organized enterprises and universities including China COSCO Shipping Group, China Merchants Group, Liaoning Provincial Transportation Construction Investment Group, Yantian International Container Terminals Limited, Liaoning Port Co., Ltd., China Power Engineering Consulting Group, Zhejiang University, and Dalian Maritime University to participate. Participants conducted in-depth exchanges on topics such as the joint construction of a green energy transportation corridor between Hong Kong and the mainland, and the international development path of green marine fuel standards under the new circumstances.
Participants unanimously agreed that Hong Kong and the mainland should further deepen cooperation in fields such as green marine fuel, promoting the green transformation and upgrading of the shipping economy in Hong Kong and the mainland. The international certification system for green marine fuel led by the International Center, as a Chinese standard, conforms to China’s national conditions, and its international influence continues to expand. All relevant parties, including Hong Kong, should continue to strengthen support for and application of China’s international certification system for green marine fuel.
After the meeting, the International Center and The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited also signed a memorandum of cooperation, and the two sides will further deepen cooperation in the production, storage, and application of green fuel, and continue to strengthen research on the international standard system for green marine fuel.
