To allocate Molo Italia exclusively to cruises and the Alto Fondale to freight traffic. This is the proposal put forward by Confindustria to the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority.
Yesterday morning, at the Palazzo degli Industriali, during a meeting with the extraordinary commissioner of the Port Authority, Davide Gariglio, the president of Confindustria Toscana Centro e Costa, Piero Neri, spoke about the opportunity to reorganize the spaces in one of the most crucial areas of the port.
Taking as an example what the Port Authority did with the reorganization of the areas on the east side of the Darsena Toscana, where some of the activities of the Compagnia Impresa Lavoratori Portuali were relocated from the Alto Fondale, Neri asked to proceed with allocating Molo Italia exclusively to cruises, relocating the freight activities to the Alto Fondale (such as those for forest products, which are currently handled at the Alto Fondale root and on the north quay of Molo Italia).
According to Neri, such a reorganization would result in a series of positive effects, including the stability of the bulk terminal, and savings of 35 million euros currently allocated for the resecazione of Calata Orlando.
Davide Gariglio acknowledged the proposal without committing: “We are not in a position to answer the question now, but we are absolutely available for discussion,” he stated.
